Dr. Wasim Samara is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in the medical and surgical treatment of retinal diseases, including macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal tears, and retinal detachments. During his rigorous vitreoretinal fellowship, he underwent extensive surgical training and performed more than 1,000 procedures, gaining broad experience in both complex and routine retinal surgery.
After fellowship, Dr. Samara practiced for three years in North Carolina, providing advanced retinal care to patients across the region before relocating to Texas to establish Envision Retina.
Earlier in his career, he completed research fellowships in ocular oncology and vitreoretinal diseases at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia, authoring numerous peer-reviewed publications and book chapters. His work has been published in RETINA, Ophthalmology, and the American Journal of Ophthalmology, and presented at national meetings including the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Retina Specialists, and ARVO.
Dr. Samara is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Retina Specialists.
Outside of his clinical work, he enjoys hiking, traveling, and playing tennis. He is fluent in English and Arabic.
